Chris

The end of January is fast approaching and I have yet to blog about Christmas.  We truly had a great time, but the death of a very dear friend has made me hesitant to write of lighthearted and seemingly unimportant events.  So I am going to write about Chris before anything else, and maybe that will make things easier.

If you knew Chris, you loved him.  He was one of those people who lived each moment.  He was happy, smart, very kind, sincere, and oh-so full of life.  He had his fingers in everything and was a friend to everyone.  Chris loved Lincoln, and that made us love him that much more.  He loved to see him, and always asked about him.  It was so nice to have a friend that in love with our son.  We knew he was going to be an amazing dad, because he was amazing in every other way, too.

We have not had a close friend pass away.  It is heartbreaking, every day.  The thing that just tears at us is Chris left behind a beautiful fiancé, a girl who is as perfect as Chris was.  We love them both and the beginning of the semester seems so empty without them.

In thinking about Chris and his life, I wonder why he was taken—he who lived more than most of us ever will.  It makes no sense, but we take solace in the fact that we will see him again.  Chris has felt the arms of our Savior around him and when we pass through this life, we will too.

My resolution at the start of this year is to truly live each day.  To love my role as a wife and mother, and to make the most of life, as Chris did.
